Project Xposure partners up with the SUCCESS Foundation.
Its no secret that today's teens face some difficult challenges and the SUCCESS Foundation believes our youth can better meet those challenges by using the principles of personal-development.
Today a strategic alliance has been established between the SUCCESS Foundation and Project Xposure that will look to further the mission of both organizations. The collaboration comes as a result of Project Xposure's dedication to youth development and continued commitment to service within the community.
Program Director Jarrett England offered his reflections on the joint venture: “Our organization is viewed as influential in the lives of the young people we serve. In many instances we play an advisory role for the youth we come in contact with; we push them toward achieving their goals. Whether it be our mentorship initiatives or our camps, we constantly promote the value and necessity of personal development and education. The SUCCESS Foundation and their support will allow us to further impact the lives of young people. It's an ideal match - their mission is perfectly in line with what we're trying to accomplish.”
The first tool that Project Xposure will be equipped with is a book called SUCCESS for Teens. The book provides teens with the fundamental principles of personal development and the resources to help them reach their full potential.
“We have already implemented the book into our programming and distributed it to some of our teens, it's been well received and our teens have been able to relate to the content and apply the principles learned in their everyday lives” said England
The book illustrates the importance of clarifying goals, practicing the small efforts necessary for success, and accepting responsibility for one's own destiny. Organized in an easy-to-read format and sprinkled with engaging exercises, action steps and stories from real teens, SUCCESS for Teens helps teens embrace eight principles that will allow them to shape the futures they want.
“I’m not big on reading, but this is a great book, I’ve been reading it since I got it and I asked Jarrett if he could get me a few more copies, so I could share them with my high school coach and the players on my baseball team at school, we all need to read this book.” said Matthew Kirkland of South Doyle H.S. in Knoxville.
The books main points are also reviewed in a group setting, where a Project Xposure facilitator goes over the book chapter by chapter Through a series of reading, discussion and writing activities to help teens apply the book's lessons to life.
