Project Xposure Launches Fall Baseball Academy

In a move designed to improve the development environment for baseball players throughout the southeast, Project Xposure launches a fall developmental academy slated to begin in September.

Created to provide players with the best possible opportunity to advance their skills, the Xposure Baseball Academy is being instituted following a comprehensive review of player development systems in our region.

We feel that now is the right time for the academy and it’s very much needed.Through our extensive research we found that today in amateur baseball there is an overwhelming game, tournament, and showcase emphasis, which is leaving too many of our most talented players underdeveloped and unprepared for opportunities. Our goal with the academy is to switch the focus to a meaningful training and competition model that will ultimately lead to more success and better prepared players, allowing them to reach their full potential.

Program Director Jarrett England says, “There is a point where all the tournament play becomes counter productive. Many tournaments are simply fundraisers. Tournament directors pack games on fields and everything ends up being rushed. The teams end up on the field unable to properly stretch, swing a bat, or take infield/outfield. At the end of the day as a position player, you have a handful of at bats, and if you’re lucky 2-3 ground balls in a few hours time. And the question is. How much better did you become? The players never get an opportunity to work on specific deficiencies in their game or refine their skills.”

Our Academy will directly address the growing trend of baseball teams playing an excessive quantity of games in lieu of consistent training patterns. We will provide a superior everyday training environment. We want to ensure that our most gifted young players are constantly being challenged in conditions that best promote player development. Training sessions will focus on the areas that are critical to elevating our young players' ability to compete at the elite levels of the sport.

Former Major leaguer and current Ensworth HS coach Jason Maxwell Says, “It’s a concept that baseball in this area desperately needs. Playing professional baseball you quickly learn the significance of player development and the role it plays in advancing your career. At the amateur level there isn’t enough emphasis on preparing our young players. The Xposure Baseball Academy will provide a great opportunity for players to get better. The timing is right, and the appropriate people are leading it. This program is well overdue.”

England says “We plan to lead the charge at the amateur level as far as athlete development is concerned. Project Xposure all ready has a reputation when it comes to player advancement; this is just the next step in the evolution of the organization. There is a lot of support for our program from professional baseball to top collegiate baseball programs in the region. Everyone’s for this and wants to see it be successful and flourish.”

Our systematic approach to developing players and improving their skills through repetition and proper instruction is proven. Participants should come here looking to reach fulfillment of their potential as baseball players and responsible people.

Athletes will arrive at the academy with particular strengths and goals. Our aim is to then compliment and develop each player according to those assets, best enabling them to prepare for a successful future.

Curriculum at the academy will encompass the physical as well as the mental aspects of the game and life. Outside of baseball skill work our athletes will be introduced to strength and conditioning, goal setting, and the importance of educational attainment. These are many of the character building and core values that are prevalent in all Project Xposure programming. We have the best interests of the athlete at heart and they will fully understand that after their experience at the academy.
